HANADAMA VS. AAA QUALITY AKOYA PEARLS
What’s the better value?
There are pros and cons to both selections, but the primary difference between the AAA grade Akoya necklace and the Hanadama strand is going to be one of luster and orient.
If you’re purely in the market for a Mikimoto AAA grade single-strand type of pearl necklace, then there is no better choice than a Hanadama certified strand.
As the photos here illustrate, both our AAA Quality Akoya and our Hanadama Collection Akoya pearls are beautiful.
But, the Hanadama Akoya pearl is clearly superior in terms of luster and iridescence, and often boasts a depth and glow to their surfaces that is only possible due to their thicker nacre layers and fine crystalline structure.
So, WHY would you choose a AAA Quality Necklace over the Hanadama then? A couple reasons that I can think of.
First would be customization factors - we can make any length and layout configuration you can dream up with my AAA Quality Akoya pearls.
Hanadama Necklaces have set lengths that cannot be customized. Many clients want Double-Strand Necklaces, or long, flowing Ropes that would be extraordinarily expensive using the Hanadama pearls.
Second would be pricing issues - the Hanadama Akoya Pearl Necklaces and Earrings are about 2xs the cost of our AAA Quality pearls; if getting close to the Hanadama Luster is important, but not that important, then the AAA Quality pearls are a very attractive choice without breaking the bank.
The
AAA Quality Japanese Akoya strands pictured above were pulled from our regular inventory for a fun photoshoot. As you can see, the AAA's aren't slouches in the luster and beauty department! It's my firm opinion that a well-chosen AAA Quality Akoya Pearl Necklace has the potential to save the savvy shopper hundreds to thousands of dollars if you what to look for.
What do you think? Would you choose the AAA Akoya or splurge for the Hanas? ;)
Until next week ...
XO,
Ashley M.
