Jewelry by Adam Neeley
2022 is the Year of the Pearl, no doubt about it. I used to write monthly blog posts showcasing the latest celebs spotted wearing beautiful pearl jewelry, and thought I'd bring them back ... not on a monthly basis, but maybe quarterly?
It's nice to have some fluff and sugary stuff to look at (my Mom used to call it bubblegum, which I think works perfectly) to distract us all from the bigger cares we all deal with. These recent sightings are from 2022-ish at various events: Paris, London, weddings, lesser-known awards shows .. but it definitely goes to show that gorgeous pearl jewelry and the pearlcore trends have some serious staying power. Onto the show!
First up, singer, actress and model Janelle Monaé spotted looking particularly posh at Paris Fashion Week.
Ms. Monaé donned the famous pearl and diamond triple-strand "Orb Collection" necklace by Vivienne Westwood, and pearl drop earrings.
Monaé appears to have a penchant for pearls, and there are many photographs of her wearing these subtly chic gems as part of her signature black and white attire.
Julia Garner of Ozark fame (I love that show - I'm not generally big on watching tv but I must confess I've binged every season of Ozark) modeled a pair of STUNNING South Sea pearl and diamond earrings by David Webb while attending the Spirit Awards.
Her dress adorned with wispy feathers and large rhinestone accents recalls the vibe of the the Roaring Twenties; the earrings matched PERFECTLY.
Sharon Stone also went all-out Glamour Girl at a recent Bulgari B.zero1 Aurora Awards event.
Posing for pictures wearing a classic little black dress, she let her jewels be the star of the show by donning a magnificent White South Sea pearl, diamond and emerald choker with matching diamond and emerald earrings by Bulgari.
Absolute Showstopper!
... In case you've been living under a rock (like me, lol), Ariana Grande recently got married.
Grande wore a sleek, strapless, nearly backless white silk wedding gown by Vera Wang, simple veil and a pair of absolutely STUNNING pair of pearl and diamond earrings by designer Lorraine Schwartz.
The blushing bride wore her earrings in a very particular way: one earring was worn upside down.
Per Seventeen magazine: "In their exclusive coverage of Ari's top-secret microwedding, Vogue.com revealed the meaning behind these custom sparklers.
"Pearl and diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz were chosen to match the bride’s engagement ring—with one upside down (a nod to her aesthetic that started during the Sweetener era) and the other right side up. The meaning behind this is significant to Ariana, as it represents appreciating the lowest or the 'upside down' moments in her life and how they have contributed to where and who she is now.""
Ariana has long had a taste for pearl jewelry; above is a photo of her younger self wearing a pair of pink pearl studs (they look so pretty and cute, now I want a pair!) and a graduated faux pearl headband a la the Pearlcore Trend, in which pearl lovers incorporate all-things-pearl into their daily lives.
High-end runway model Gigi Hadid came to fame wearing some of the most well known fashion designers in the industry.
From Vogue.in, here she is wearing a sleek cream-colored Versace suit, lace bralette and absolutely stunning multi-strand pearl choker (designer unknown) paired with a long, luxy pearl necklace double up and hung with a baroque pearl enhancer for an event celebrating Fenti x Savage.
Hadid has gotten VERY into the latest pearl trends, recently debuting a line of personalized seed pearl necklaces with gold colored bead accents and kids letter blocks - very cute.
Here she is wearing a large Baroque Freshwater Pearl Necklace mixed and layered with chains and beaded necklaces for a bright, funky look for Coachella 2019. Love it!
I saved the best for last, although it's certainly not a happy circumstance in which these stunning images and jewelry were captured.
Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales and future Queen of England, wore many pieces of pearl jewelry in honor of the Queen's funeral last week.
Kate looked beautiful and elegant wearing a multi-strand pearl necklace finished with a diamond clasp, and matching pearl and diamond earrings. All items previously belonged to the Queen herself who had a special fondness for the understated yet refined pearl.
She wore the same jewelry to the Queen's consort, Prince Phillip's funeral procession in 2020.
At a different day during the week-long event, Princess Kate wore natural pearl drop dangle earrings with a magnificent pearl and pavé diamond brooch with a maple leaf design.
It reminds me very much of a Inspired Pearl Design I featured last year from Mori Pearl, Japan.
Kate Middleton is well-known for her preferences for simple, yet elegant pearl jewelry ... she's been spotted multiple times sporting a simple pair of drop-shape pearl dangle earrings with a slim gold huggie hoop dangle.
She has also been spotted repeatedly wearing one of Queen Elizabeth's favorite pairs of pearl and diamond stud earrings over the years. Simple, yet elegant.
Our White South Sea Pearl and Diamond "Fame" Earrings are an excellent option if you want her look.
And that brings us to an end for this week's post! I had to cut it short for now, and save the rest for another time. But I'm looking forward to my next Celebrity Pearl Sightings post in a few weeks. I hope you enjoyed the glitz and the glam!
Until next time ...
XO,
Ashley M.
